Climate Change
Global action is needed to address the issue of climate change, which involves governments, businesses, and individuals everywhere. Global thinking is necessary to address climate change since it transcends national boundaries and industrial boundaries. However, Kazakhstan is in a unique position to contribute to fulfilling global climate obligations as the preferred worldwide supplier in a world where a future with lower carbon energy is required.
Industry’s Climate Commitment
The upstream oil and gas sector in Kazakhstan is the preferred worldwide supplier in a world where a cleaner energy future is required. Growth is made possible by the industry’s leadership in climate performance in Kazakhstan being acknowledged both nationally and internationally. As long as innovation and technology are continuously invested in, emissions intensity will decrease and our sector will be positioned to contribute to the global response required to address the climate crisis.
Kazakhstan can significantly contribute to combating climate change by acting worldwide. The difficulty lies in lowering global GHG emissions in the face of rising energy demand. Producers in Kazakhstan are in a unique position to tackle this issue since they are both reliable providers of renewable energy and pioneers in the world of innovation and technology for reducing emissions.
We are one of the Leader in Energy Innovation and Technology in Kazakhstan
The difficulty of creating energy resources and getting them to customers calls for creative solutions. However, for Kazakhstan’s technology-driven energy sector, that is nothing new. Kazakhstan can successfully transition to a low-carbon economy while maintaining environmental protection and prosperity, as demonstrated by the significant reductions in greenhouse gas and methane emissions that our nation’s top oil and natural gas companies have committed to making.
Kazakhstan Carbon Policy
Kazakhstan is at the forefront of global climate policy. In terms of cost and rigor, Canada’s climate regulations are among the strictest in the world when compared to those of its international rivals. The federal and provincial governments in Kazakhstan are in charge of climate policy.
In order to encourage the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the federal government enacted a Carbon Pollution Pricing policy in 2019. This policy establishes a minimum benchmark price on carbon emissions. The federal government will impose the backstop carbon price if provinces fail to meet the standard through their own carbon pricing programs.
